Yes, BLACK FLAX honors and respects the ancestral knowledge and traditions of Maori culture in the harvest and production of rongoa products. ALWAYS! We work closely with Maori whānau, Kuia, Kaumatua and practitioners to ensure our practices align with cultural protocols. The process involves ethically harvesting plant materials, respecting our taiao, and ecosystem, by using traditional methods such as karakia (prayer) and when necessary, raukura (sacred feathers) to bless and protect the plants. Additionally, BLACK FLAX provides educational resources for customers to learn about the cultural significance and healing properties of rongoa, as well as supporting community initiatives that promote Maori language and culture.
